Former batting maestro and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has been voted the best Test player of the 21st century in an online poll conducted by Cricket Australia on its website.
Tendulkar topped the list by securing 23 per cent of the votes and was followed by Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, who occupied the second spot with 14 percent votes.
The online poll, which witnessed more than 16,000 fans participating, was conducted on cricket.com.au to find out the best Test player since 2000. After 10 days, cricket.com.au made the poll's final result public.
The list had former Australian stars Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Pointing placed at number three and four respectively. Former South African allrounder Jacques Kallis got 11 percent votes to be at the fifth spot.
Sachin's records speak louder than anything else with the most international runs in both ODIs and Tests apart from numerous other batting records. Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan also feature on the list but occupy seventh and ninth positions with only 9 percent and 3 percent votes, respectively
